A CELEBRATION OF THE LIFE of PETER JAY
(1985 - 2018)
On the 16th of April 2018, friend colleague and all round hugely talented human being Peter Jay was the reason for a beautiful celebration of his life. He passed away at the unbelievably cruelly young age of 33, and his funeral was on a very sunny day attended by friends and family in South East London, earlier on the afternoon of the 16th, followed by a very emotional but joyful send-off at The Two Brewers in South West London, where he had so often rehearsed and performed with the Band he co-founded, the London Gay Big Band, and it was this band, plus the London Gay Symphony Orchestra quartet which performed at this celebration, a few snippets of which are included in the video clips above.
The wonderful singer and host Stephen Duffy introduced the evening with great style and wit, and in addition to his musical colleagues, Pete's own most musical family too joined in and performed on the night.
There are some stills from the evening below, and though nothing can quite convey the sadness of the occasion, with singers Stephen and Lara De Belder, plus late night cabaret by Miss Jason in the front bar, the day was certainly one to remember.
